Too often, information gathered for the purposes of evaluation ends up being filed away and forgotten about with the result that that no-one is any the wiser and all the effort that has gone into gathering the information is wasted.
Analysis involves considering and making sense of the range of information gathered in order both to clearly establish the extent to which objectives have been reached and to highlight achievements, issues and difficulties that need to be considered.
The starting point then is to look at what information you already have, and to consider how it can be used in this evaluation process. You may well find that you have a mass of
information that will be very useful which you are either using
for other purposes, or that you have been collecting and not making much use of so far….…. then you will be able to see where there are gaps, which will lead you into thinking about what information you do need.….…then you can develop a plan for acquiring it.
